Evia Jackson Thomas, 101, of Dahlonega, died April 22, 2011.

 

Born April 1, 1910 in Union County to the late Fate and Nora Jackson, she had lived in Lumpkin County for the past six years, having moved from Lilburn.

 

A homemaker at her death, she was married to the late Rev. Loy Thomas for 58 years, where she was dedicated to his ministry while he served as pastor of 10 churches in the North Georgia area.

 

Her sisters, Carrie Aiken, Bulah Jackson; and brothers, Carl Jackson and Max Jackson, preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Verdell Thomas of Ellijay; sisters, Fannie Mae Robinson of Douglasville, Thelma L. Cope of Dalton, Maxine Bryson of Nicholesville; brother, Ray Jackson of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Jeff and Pam Thomas of Lilburn, Keith and Cerena Thomas of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Christy Thomas, Katlin Sims, Josh Thomas, Carissa Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Laura Thomas; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 27 at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the Dr. Jim Gaines officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Young Harris.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
