Evelyn S. Smith, 79, of Cumming, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

  

She was a firm believer in God and a devoted wife and mother.

  

She loved her family and friends and will be remembered as a kind and loving person by everyone who knew her.

  

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Judge Charles R. Smith, judge of the municipal court of the city of Cumming; daughter, Lynn Byess, employed with the Cherokee County Board of Education; son-in-law, Donnie; son, Charles E. (Chuck) Smith, captain with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office; daughter-in-law, Jessica; five grandchildren, Christa, Jason, Scott, Kelly and Chase; sisters-in-law, Grace Stewart of Columbia, S.C., Louise Long of Atlanta; numerous great-grandchildren and various other relatives also survive.

  

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.  in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Blackburn officiating. Harold Pruitt will sing "Amazing Grace" at the memorial service.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bald Ridge Lodge Boys Home.

  

Donations to the boys home can be taken to any Citizens Bank location in Cumming, to the attention of Kelly Bennett or mailed to Citizens Bank, Attn: Kelly Bennett, 651 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Cumming, GA 30040.
