Eugenia Harrison Powel Devereaux, 93, of Cumming, died Aug. 25, 2012.
Lovingly known as Grandma Gene by her church family at Parkway Presbyterian Church, she was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Signal Mountain, Tenn., to the late Hugh Walker and Ben Addie Eagar Powel.
Mrs. Devereaux attended Westminster Girls' School in Atlanta and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she was a member of AOII Sorority.
She was retired from General Electric Credit Corporation where she had worked as a Customer Service Unit Manager.
Mrs. Devereaux was a charter member of Parkway Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and a Deacon.
In addition to her parents; her husband, Richard Dean Devereaux; a son, Richard Powel Devereaux and her brothers, Hugh W. Powel and Dr. Charles Powel, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Dea Harrison Devereaux of Dahlonega; son, Hugh W. and JoAnn Devereaux of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Jennifer Devereaux (Tim) Segers of Birmingham, Ala., Dustin Devereaux and Josh Devereaux, both of Cumming; four great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.
A celebration of the life of Eugenia Harrison Powel Devereaux was held at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Parkway Presbyterian Church with the Pastor Bill Ford officiating. A reception followed the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were requested made to Parkway Presbyterian Church, 5830 Bethelview Road, Cumming, GA 30040 or to Crossroads Hospice of Atlanta, 1957 Lakeside Parkway, Ste. 500, Tucker, GA 30084.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
