Emily Johnson Newberry, 83, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 18, 2011.

She was born March 17, 1927 in Ensley, Ala. to Carl Frederick and Cora B. Jones Johnson.

She graduated from Hueytown High School and received her R.N. from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Birmingham, Ala.

Her daughter, Susan Newberry Berryman; parents; and siblings, Christine Dyle, Earnest Johnson, Howard Johnson and Joyce Morrow, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert Harvey Newberry; daughter, Rhonda Newberry Hildreth; son-in-law, W. Bartley Hildreth; granddaughter, Amy Johnson Hildreth; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 20 at Georgia National Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Gill officiating.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
