Ellen Southern Gaddis, 72, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 25, 2013.

Mrs. Gaddis was born May 27, 1941, in Gilmer County as the daughter of the late Ed and Ella Weaver Southern.

She worked as a paraprofessional in the Dawson County School System and was a member of the River Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, her brother, Edwin Southern, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Edd Gaddis of Dawsonville; children, Connie and Shane Holt of Ellijay, Sherri and Mark Autry of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Everett and Glenda Southern, Euel and Judy Southern, Ermel and Betty Southern, Ruel and Alice Southern, all of Ellijay; two grandchildren, Kayla and Amber Autry; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 at River Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Smith, Russell Hood and David Nicholson officiating. Pallbearers were Jody Crump, Ethan Crump, Travis Gaddis, Eli Wishon, James Gaddis, Tony Davis and Chad Graham. Music was by Mark Autry and Leta Hood.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bernhardt Funeral Home of Ellijay was in charge of the arrangements.
