Ellen R. Alldred, 68, of Dawsonville, died March 6, 2011.

 

Born Aug. 29, 1942 in Boston, Mass. to the late Edward Leo and Mary Roach, she lived in Lumpkin County for the past 34 years, having moved from Cherokee County.

 

Mrs. Alldred retired as a paraprofessional with the Lumpkin County School System after 18 years of service.

 

A proud mother of five sons, she was always actively involved and participated in their many scholastic and athletic activities. She possessed a love for camping excursions, family events and was an avid reader. She possessed great knowledge of current events and historical facts. A member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, she remained true to her faith.

 

Her son, Michael J. Alldred, preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James "Jim" Alldred of Dawsonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Alldred, Chris Alldred, both of Charlotte, N.C., Brian Alldred, Jamie and Cas Alldred, all of Dahlonega; granddaughters, Savannah Alldred, Autumn Alldred; sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ray Teeling of St. Michaels, Md., Lee Byrd of Orlando, Fla.; various other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 10 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ray Richardson officiating.
