Eler Vaughters Tanner, 93, of Dawsonville, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.

  

Born March 9, 1916 in Dawson County to the late Linzey and Tomie Vaughters, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

Mrs. Tanner was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church.

  

Her husband, Clyde Tanner; grandson, Daniel Tanner; son-in-law, Horace Beck; sisters, Lula Thompson, Alice Disharoon, Ola Swafford, Flara Waters; and, brother, Charlie Vaughters, preceded her in death.

  

Survivors include her children, Kermit and Linda Tanner, Floyd and Helen Tanner, Joyce and Jimmy Bryson, Linda and Ricky Godfrey, Marvin Tanner, all of Dawsonville, Doris and Darrell Sims of Austell, Opal and George Hoard of Augusta; grandchildren, Kevin and Stacie Tanner, Jeff Tanner, Johnny Sims, Tyron and Melissa Tanner, Tarla and Matt Miller, Joseph and Tiffany Bryson, Missy and Shane Treadaway, Michelle and Eric Hardin; 12 great-grandchildren; special friend, Leila Bruce; special caregiver, Sheila Sorenson; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Stephen Burt and Phillip Burt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3165 Hwy. 136 West, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
