Edwin Nuckolls Gravitt, 86, of Cumming, died Jan. 10, 2014.

Edwin was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County and was involved in all civic and community organizations. A businessman in Forsyth County for many years, he ran numerous businesses including concrete construction, automotive parts and subdivision development.

Edwin was a 70 year member and Deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

At the time of his death, he was the oldest living past master of the Lafayette Lodge No. 44 F&AM.

Edwin loved Forsyth County and its people and worked diligently to improve it.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ann Gravitt of Cumming; sisters-in-law, Betty Gravitt, Christal and Bill Picklesimer, all of Cumming, Anna Chastain of Marietta; nieces, Renee and Jim Johns of Lithia Springs, Lori and Scott Smith, Latrelle LaLonde, all of Cumming, Linda and Tom Lancaster of Troy, Mich.; nephews, Paul and Debbie Gravitt of Suwanee, Robert and Judy Chastain of Duluth, Anthony and Lisa Chastain of Cumming, Rafael Picklesimer of Cumming, Josh, Amanda and Annabelle Smith; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. Keith Martin, Allen Swafford and Jeff Wilkie officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
