Edward Vernon Taylor Jr., 61, of Cumming, died Dec. 14, 2010.

 

Born in Cumming, he was the son of the late Edward V. Taylor Sr. and Dorothy "Dot" Taylor of Cumming.

 

Eddie served in the U.S. Air Force and was a commercial realtor. He was active in the Cumming and Forsyth County community, serving as a county commissioner, board of education member, board member of the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, past president of the American Cancer Society and a member of the Forsyth Lanier Rotary Club. Eddie was in the 2008-2009 Leadership Forsyth Class. He was also a member of the North Georgia Mountain Riders.

 

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy "Dot" Taylor of Cumming; his partner, Dayla Jo Peters of Cumming; children, Kendra L. Taylor (Kevin) Rich, Seneca R. Taylor, all of Cumming; brother, Dwight L. (Debbie) Taylor of Big Canoe; nephew, Landon D. Taylor of Crested Butte, Colo.; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Dec. 19 at Mountain Lake Church with the Revs. Shawn Lovejoy, John Shepherd and Travis Bridgeman officiating.

 

Inurnment followed at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made in Eddie's memory to the L.E.A.D.E.R. (Lanier Extended Area Drivers Education Resource) Organization for Teen Drivers, thru the Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club, www.lanierforsythrotaryclub.org, P.O. Box 3166, Cumming, GA 30028.

 

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
