Edward "Ed" Hughes, 90, of Cumming, died Oct. 2, 2014.

He was born Jan. 8, 1924.

Ed served in the United States Army in The Rhineland, in Central Europe, during World War II.

His sons, Gary and Kenny Hughes; grandson, Bradley Hughes; brothers, Paul and Reege Hughes; sisters, Kate Deaton, Ethel Turner, Thede Ogle, Mary Ann Gain, Rose Marchany and Mable Carter, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margie Jenkins Hughes; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rachel Hughes, Bill and Susan Jenkins, Barbara Hughes, all of Cumming, Joyce Hughes Richards of Dawsonville; sister, Vivian Elder of Palmetto, Fla.; brother, N.E. Hughes of Salt Lake City Utah; grandchildren, Jeremy Hughes, Jennifer Constable, Brannon Hughes, Brittany Middleton, Tonya Hughes, Tim Hughes, Tara Sisum, Farah Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Scott Jenkins and Chuck Jenkins; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Payne, Jason Moon and Rodney Allen officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
