Edna Gazaway, 81, of Dawsonville, died March 16, 2013.

Born Aug. 1, 1931, to the late Grady and Lizzie Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Edna was a graduate of Dawson County High School, after which she attended North Georgia College and earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Georgia.

She retired from licensing and inspection of child care centers for the Georgia Department of Human Resources after more than 20 years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville.

Edna possessed a great love and devotion for the Dawson County community and worked tirelessly helping others and her church.

Her sister, Betty Jo Turner; brother, Harold Tatum; and son-in-law, Fred Youngman, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Youngman of Dawsonville; son, Rande Gazaway of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jaime and Jason Harper, Bo and Elizabeth Wilson, all of Cumming, Gina Wilson of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Addison Peck, Lauren Harper, Morgan Harper, Sophie Wilson; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. March 23 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Lovell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
