Edna Gamps Stephens

Edna "Gamps" Stephens, 94, of Dawsonville, died May 14, 2012.

Born Sept. 25, 1917, to the late Seaborn and Nettie Ropers, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Gamps was a homemaker and attended the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville.

Her parents, husband, Albert Stephens; daughter and son-in-law, Gaynelle and Edgar Odum; son, Jerry Stephens; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Stephens; son-in-law, Joe Lane Cox; grandson, Eddie Odum; sisters, Grace Sewell, Lillian Sheriff and brothers, Howard Roper and Dan Roper, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Judy Cox, Mary and Mike Sosebee, all of Dawsonville; son, Kenneth Stephens of Dawsonville; special caregiver, Lisa Yow; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. May 16 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kenny Williamson and Russell Burt officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
