Earl D. Cagle, 68, of Lumpkin County, died Sept. 17, 2011.

Born April 30, 1943 to the late Jackson and Sara Cagle, he was a resident of Doraville for 20 years before spending the last 16 years in Lumpkin County.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Cagle was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam who was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid.

He owned Cagle's Auction Company in Chamblee and was an auctioneer in the Atlanta area for many years, after which he retired from Univar in Doraville and then worked as a bus driver for Lumpkin County Schools.

His daughter, Amanda Cagle Smith; and brothers, Louie, Duane and Bruce Cagle preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Paulette White Cagle of Lumpkin County; children, Brooks, Joshua, Paul, Abigail and Mary Cagle, all of Lumpkin County; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bob Kernea of Clermont and five grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at The Dahlonega Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with the Bishop Robert Weischedel officiating. Interment followed in the Dahlonega Memorial Park.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
