Donna Rebecca Shaw, 48, of Dawsonville, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.
She was born Dec. 5, 1960 and graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta in 1979.
She played church softball and lettered in basketball and track and field at Lakeside.
She spent her career as an independent contractor and project manager with several construction companies in the Atlanta and Gainesville areas, after starting out in new construction cleanup and moving up to construction management.
She loved her garden and her labs. Every dog within a 100-mile radius knew that if they needed anything to go to Donna's home and she would meet their every need.
She left behind, Rudy, Riley and Jack and one cat, Token.
Survivors include the love of her life of 24 years, Steve Warren of Mableton; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Shaw of Rome; parents, Charles T. and Eva L. (Sam) Shaw of Atlanta; sister, Dena Shaw Fleming (Daryl Fleming) of Lilburn; nephew, Quentin Charles Fleming of Lilburn; foster brothers, Kenneth and John Peterson; both of Columbus; aunt and uncle, Joanne and Max Shaw of Rome; cousins, Karen and Susan Shaw of Oregon; aunt, Ramona (T-Bug) Helms; cousins, Darlene, Greg, Tommy and Cathy, and their children, all of Rome; aunt and uncle, Fran and Tommy Barber of Fayetteville; cousins, Susan Barber and family of Palmetto, Tom Barber and family of Fayetteville; uncle, Bill Lee of Fairburn; various other relatives also survive.
A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dawsonville Humane Society or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in Donna's name.
