Donna Claire Paulsen McCubrey was released from the grip of Alzheimer's on Oct. 16, 2013, in Gainesville. For 60 years she was the loving wife of Everett James McCubrey Jr.

Donna was the affectionate daughter of Bill and Clara Paulsen, born on July 28, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minn. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1949 and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn, in 1953.

After marrying in July 1953, she taught elementary school in Virginia and Minnesota. She was a joyful companion to her husband and a committed mother to her three children as IBM relocated them across the country many times. Her strength came from a positive attitude, a belief in prayer and a love for all as demonstrated by her involvement in church and several civic organizations. She especially loved entertaining and carrying on family traditions.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband Everett, three children, Derin White (husband Bruce) of Cumming, GA, Tripp McCubrey (wife Julie) of Marietta, GA, and Creighton McCubrey (wife Lynda) of Conyers, GA, and five grandchildren, Chett McCubrey (wife Anna), Brent White (wife Sarah), Claire White, Allie McCubrey and Connor McCubrey.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16, at Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075 with a reception to follow in the Narthex.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "2nd Mile for Mission," an offering to support the mission outreach partners of Roswell Presbyterian Church.
