Donald G. Smading, 80, of Cumming, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.

  

Born Aug. 15, 1929 in Helena, Mont. to the late Fred and Florence Smading, Mr. Smading graduated from the University of Montana. He spent his career working in education as a teacher and coach and later moved into administration. He retired from the Florida Department of Education. Mr. Smading was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict.

  

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Smading of Cumming; children, Connie and Ron Musselman of Covington, Dan Smading, Kristi and Jim Devaney, all of Marietta, Karen and Bill Cannon of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Betty Scow of Helena; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

  

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Church of the Apostles in Dawsonville with the Rev. Russell Burchard officiating.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Apostles, P.O. Box 1077, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
