Dolores Colon, 72, of Dawsonville died August 4, 2014.

Born Feb. 10, 1942 to the late Herman and Margie Richard, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past seven years and previously of Cooper City, Fla.

A trustee at Dawsonville Baptist Church, she was very passionate about the Dawson Christian Learning Center where local high school students are taught from the Bible.

Survivors include her husband of more than 50 years, Ed Colon of Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Eddie and Kim Colon of Dawsonville; daughters and sons in law, Annette and Travis Buffenbarger of Orlando, Fla., Jeanine and Pastor Jeremy Higdon, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Chris, Pia, Travis, Alexa, Ana, Austin, Zach and Ryan; a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Aug. 6, 2014 at Dawsonville Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Higdon and the family officiating. Interment followed in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
