Diana Long, 62, of Dawsonville, died March 21, 2016.

Diana was born Feb. 3, 1954 in Hornchurch, England, to the late Albert and Kathleen Lee.

She grew up in South Africa, earning a degree in nursing.

She then moved to Rhodesia, where she specialized in labor and delivery and theater technique.

Mrs. Long worked as a midwife in South Africa and Saudi Arabia before moving to California.

In 2008, she moved to Dawson County and worked at Chestatee Regional and Northside Forsyth hospitals.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Stirling Long of Dawsonville; children, Bernadette Long of Dawsonville, Sukhi Balu of London, England, Jordan James Long of Columbus; grandchildren, Shannon, Farrah and Annorah; sister, Deborah Mary Cook of South Africa; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. April 6 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Niranjan Noronha officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at April 6.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
