Dewey Edwards Jr. (Junior Edwards), 89, of Dahlonega, died May 16, 2014.

Junior was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and a member of Hightower Baptist Church.

He retired from Burlington Pine Tree Plant in Dahlonega.

He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.

He was well known for his passion for music and harmonica playing on the Dahlonega town square and at the Auraria Community Center.

He was the son of the late Dewey Edwards Sr. and Estelle Lance Garrett.

His wife, Bonnie Lou Moss Edwards; and several brothers and sisters, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Skippy Daniel and Susan Edwards, Timmy "Bull" and Pam Edwards; daughter, Petty Edwards Holman; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Gary Head, all of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Luke and Carol Garrett of Cleveland, Tenn.; sister, Opal Weaver of Cumming; grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Edwards, Brian Duke, Candace Head Wells, Cadea Head, Zachary Edwards and Tanesha Edwards; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Dustin Wells; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. May 18 in the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with the Revs. Mike Owens, Ken Anderson, Lyman Caldwell and Bo Robinson officiating.

Interment followed in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the arrangements.
