David Richard Cooper, 85, of Dawsonville died Sept. 7, 2014.

A native of Baxterville, Miss., Mr. Cooper was retired after a 23-year career in the U.S. Army where he served two tours of duty in Korea and one in Vietnam.

Following his retirement he settled in Slidell, La. where he became a business owner.

Survivors include his wife of more than 49 years, Renate Cooper; two daughters, Brenda Cooper and Lynda Cooper-Ilse; two grandchildren, Joshua and Nadia and his grand-dog, Coal; numerous other relatives also survive.

Inurnment services with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 12, at 2:30 P.M. (CDT) at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mr. Cooper's memory, to the Salvation Army or Special Olympics.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory in Cumming is in charge of arrangements.
