One Dawson County man is safe due to the quick-thinking actions of a neighbor who noticed an early-morning fire at a nearby home Thursday.

David Lee Jordan, 40, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 25, 2009.


Born in Fulton County, he was the son of Bob and Judy Jordan of Gulf Shores, Ala.


David graduated from Forsyth County High School and North Georgia College.


He was a social worker with White County DFACS.


In addition to his parents, survivors include his brothers, Marty Jordan of Norcross and Robert Jordan of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.


Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Court Appointed State Advocacy (CASA) at or (800) 628-3233 or the Dawson County Humane Society.


McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
