David J. "Dave" Cotcher, 73, of Dawsonville, died March 28, 2016.
Born Oct. 4, 1942 in Flint, Mich., to the late Paul and Ruth Cotcher, he moved from Fenton , Mich., to Roswell in 1983 and to Dawson County in 2008.
Mr. Cotcher earned two Master's Degrees from the University of Michigan.
Dave was employed for 17 years by IBM and had worked his way to the position of director.
For a few years he served as vice president of Nynex, after which he served as vice president of First Financial Management Corp. and president of Microbilt.
He then owned and operated GlobalCare, Inc. until his retirement.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and for several years he owned a cattle farm in Washington, Ga. He was very devoted to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue Cotcher of Dawsonville; children, Paul and Laura Cotcher, Jennifer and Joshua Winograd, all of Cumming, Matthew Cotcher of Dawsonville, Melissa and Barrett Bourne of Ball Ground; granddaughters Kirstyn Cotcher, Aimee Cotcher, Bella Bourne, Lilly Bourne, Sophia Winograd, Melody Winograd, Ariella Winograd; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and Art Strom of Fenton, Mich.; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Ellen Cotcher of Linden, Mich.; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. March 31 at Bearden Funeral Home. Private interment services will be held in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. March 30 at the funeral home.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
