David Arthur Lawrence, 55, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 30, 2011.

A resident of Dawsonville for the past six years, Mr. Lawrence was born Jan. 11, 1956 in Ballston Spa, N.Y. where he spent most of his life.

Affectionately known as "Pop Pop" by his grandchildren, he enjoyed attending Word of Life Tabernacle in Covington.

Mr. Lawrence served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 18 years, was a veteran of the Gulf War and was a volunteer with the Red Cross.

His son, Joshua Daniel Lawrence, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Margaret "Peggy" Lawrence of Dawsonville; children, Jeremy David Lawrence of Cumming, Jessica Lawrence of Dawsonville, Anthony and Jamie Lawrence of Pennsylvania; parents, Robert and Joan Lawrence of Galway, N.Y.; brother, Robert Lawrence of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; sisters and brother-in-law, Patti and Jamie Nygaard, Kathleen Maynor, both of Dawsonville, Jeanette Lawrence of California, Sallie Kidd of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rowan, Evan, Jackson; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Gissendaner officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help offset final expenses.
