Daniel E. Riley Sr., 94, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 1, 2017.
Born Aug. 17, 1922 in Moundsville, W.Va., to the late John and Agnes Riley, he had lived in Dawson County since 2008, having moved from Lula.
Mr. Riley was an automobile mechanic for 50 years and worked for Camp Chevrolet until his retirement.
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson Law School, he also served as a DeKalb County Deputy Sheriff for 20 years and worked as a real estate agent and appraiser.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and prior to entering the military, he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Three sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel E. Jr. and Angie Riley of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Miranda Riley, Nathan Riley, Alex McLean, Allen McLean; great-grandchildren, Brayden Gibbs, Adalynn Gibbs; and sister, Carol Hammond of Washington, Pa.; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 5 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Allison officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 4 at the funeral home.
