Charles R. “Roy” Wade III

Charles R. “Roy” Wade III, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, following a period of declining health.

Born Dec. 7, 1947, in Sumter County to the late Charles R., Jr. and Raymond Wade, he had lived in Dawson County since 1978, having moved from Macon. 

Mr. Wade earned a Master’s degree of Divinity from Emory University and a Master’s degree in mathematics education from Georgia State University. 

He taught over 20 years in public school systems prior to his retirement with his tenure in the Dawson County School System being his most rewarding. 

Roy obtained a patent in 1988 for an educational device and also enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. 

He attended McKees Chapel United Methodist Church and was also preceded in death by his sister, Macy Wade.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Patti Wade of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Will and Jennifer Wade of Dawsonville, Paul and Amanda Wade of Winder; grandchildren, Jenna Wade, Walker Wade, Presley Wade and Cash Wade.

At his request, Mr. Wade was cremated and the family is planning a private service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dawson County Senior Services Respite Care, 201 Recreation Road, Dawsonville, GA  30534.
