Charles E. Fletcher, 75, of Dawsonville, died Dec. 23, 2017.
Born March 14, 1942 in Moulton, Ala. to the late Walter and Ann Fletcher, he had lived in Dawson County since 1979. Mr. Fletcher retired as a teacher in the vocational department of Dawson County High School after 20 years of service. Prior to moving to Dawson County he taught in the Gwinnett County and Cartersville City school systems. Charles enjoyed fishing, bluegrass music and camping with his Rock Creek buddies. A U. S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam era, he was a member of the Etowah River Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sheryl Fletcher of Dawsonville; children, Dr. Shane and Tonnye Fletcher of Chadbourn, N.C., Command Sergeants Major Randy and Marina Fletcher of Fayetteville, N.C., Kelli and Daniel Bishop of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Sophia and Eddy Duke, Nelson-Rey and Rania Galarza, Julia and Thomas Aguilar, Mason Fletcher, Wylder Bishop, Charlee Bishop; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Bobby Dye of Cartersville, Myra and Bobby Williams of Acworth, Freida and J. B. Faircloth of Americus; various other relatives also survive.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 30 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Fletcher’s sons officiating.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dec. 29 and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Dec. 30 at the funeral home.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
