Catherine "Cat" Mickle, 99, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 28, 2012.

Born Jan. 19, 1913, in Good Hope, Ga. to the late Alonzo and Leila Malcolm, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 15 years, having moved from Atlanta. A homemaker at her death, she had been formerly employed by Newberrys and K-Mart in Atlanta.

Her primary interest in life was helping care for her beloved family.

Mrs. Mickle was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

After moving to Dawson County, she volunteered at RIC Rack for four years.

She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Mickle.

Survivors include her great-niece and caregiver, Edwina McMahan of Dawsonville; nephews, Carlton Malcolm of Atlanta, Ronald Malcolm of Newnan; great-niece, Clella Albert of California; great-nephew, Milton Bruce of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. March 2 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Emory Brackman and Richard McMahan officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were asked to be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 100 Lumpkin Campground Road South, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
