Obituaries

Catherine B. Manier, 81, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born Aug. 16, 1938, in Forsyth County to the late Ford and Ellen Holcomb Banister, she had lived in Atlanta, Savannah and 14 years in Greenville, Tenn., before moving to Dawson County in 1982. Catherine was a graduate of O’Keefe High School in Atlanta and attended Massey Business College. She was formerly employed by Textbook Publishing Company in Atlanta.  When she moved to Dawsonville she worked in the family’s business, Banister Funeral Home. Since 1991 she faithfully served as office manager of Bearden Funeral Home and records clerk for the Dawson County Coroner’s Office. She was a member of Dawsonville Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Banister.

Surviving are her sister in law, Joyce Banister, Hudson, Fla.; special nephew, Larry Ford Banister II, China; her extended family, the staff of Bearden Funeral Home and other relatives.

Due to the COVID-19 regulations, we will continue to follow the appropriate precautions and social distancing.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kenny Williamson officiated. Interment followed the services at Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
