Carrigan “JC” Gayton, 71, of Dawsonville, died Dec.17, 2017.
Born April 19, 1946 to the late Beecher and Aline Gayton, Mr. Gayton was a resident of Dawson County for the past 10 years, having lived most of his life in Cumming.
He enjoyed hot rod cars, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service and also served as a deacon at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
His sisters, Clara Anthony, Lucille Browder; and brother, Horace Gayton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Gayton of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Misti and Richard Moore of Dawsonville; son, Mickey Gayton of Cumming; grandchildren, Megan Gayton-Clark, Collin Moore, Dalton Moore, Ethan Moore; sister, Sandra Young of Dawsonville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gayton of Dawsonville, Linda Shadburn of Cumming, Rhonda Jones of Columbia, Tenn.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Denise Jones of Cumming; best friends, Harold and Patricia Pearson of Cumming; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 20 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Pilcher, Rev. Michael Cantrell and Rev. Clyde Boling will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming. Family and friends are encouraged to drive their classic cars to the service.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dec. 19.
