Carl R. Broome, 81, of Dawsonville, died June 16, 2013.

Born March 19, 1932 in Chickamauga, to the late Marshall and Myrtle Broome, he had lived in Dawson County since 1996 having moved from Alpharetta.

Until his retirement, Mr. Broome worked in residential and commercial construction. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, his son, David Broome; grandson, Brian Farmer; brother, Frank Broome; and sisters, Thelma Gross and Joyce Johnson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mildred Broome of Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, Deloris Stanberry, Carolyn and Dale Campbell, all of Dawsonville; brother, Oscar Broome of Orange City, Tenn.; sisters, Lorine Titshaw of Trenton, Viola Garris of Alpharetta, Linda Baker of Lawrenceville, Margaret Hawkins of Lafayett, Catherine Farris of Hoschton; grandchildren, Robert Brannon, Jennifer Ryder, Amanda Blanchard, Tammy Farmer; 10 great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. June 19 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell with the Rev. Gene Cobb officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the American Cancer Society.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
