Carl Edward Davis, 86, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 2, 2012.

Born Dec. 29, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., to the late Roy and Zola Davis, he had been a resident of Dawsonville since 1996.

Serving from 1944-1946, during World War II, he was a United States Marine Corps veteran, 5th Marines, 24th Infantry, Casual Company on Iwo Jima.

He retired in 1992 from Lockheed where he worked for more than 30 years as an aircraft engineer.

Mr. Davis was a member of McKees Chapel United Methodist Church and Etowah Lodge No. 222 F&AM.

His beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Davis; brothers, Roger, Wilbur, Leonard and Dan Davis, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Douglas S. Davis of Dawsonville; granddaughters, Alicia Davis, Krista Davis, Danielle Davis, all of Dawsonville; brother, Roy E. Davis of Hagerstown, Md.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frieda Nunamaker, June and Paul Andrews, all of Hagerstown, Md., Mary and Frank Malott of Williamsport, Md.; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sven Mossinger officiating. Interment will follow at McKees Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to help offset final expenses.
