Brenda Joan Samples, 66, of Cumming, died June 4, 2014.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dawsonville.

She was the owner and operator of Styles by Joan since 1968.

Her parents, Russ and Amy Whitmire; brother, Wilbert Whitmire; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marcellas and Wylene Samples; and brother-in-law, Michael Samples, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Royce A. Samples of Cumming; children, Marcie and son-in-law, Randy Pruitt, Russell A. Samples, all of Cumming; brother and sister-in-law, Dawson and Rhonda Whitmire of Dawsonville; sisters, Florene Hughes of Brookhaven and Sue and the late Leon Wells of Cumming; granddaughter, Maci Pruitt of Cumming; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathy and Calvin Karr of Cumming; aunt, Jewell Fouts of Atlanta; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 7 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms, Ruel Martin, Randy Pruitt and Danny Bennett officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
