Branson Bailey Tanner, 67, of Dawsonville, died May 30, 2012.

Born Aug. 10, 1944, in Dacula to the late Robert and Lillian Tanner, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 27 years, having moved from Forsyth County.

Mr. Tanner was a general contractor specializing in residential construction until an accident ended his career at the age of 40.

He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

A sister, Brenda Lowery; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Tanner, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wilma Tanner of Dawsonville; children, Bronya and Jeff Wilbanks of Cumming, Briant and Billie Jo Tanner, Mark and Teresa Tanner, Ricky Tanner, all of Dawsonville, Randy and Shari Tanner of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Billie Chadwick, Sue and Gerald Williams, all of Lawrenceville, Betsy Ann Tanner of Snellville, Burch Lowery of Dacula; brother and sister-in-law, Benny and Sue Tanner of Lawrenceville; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 2 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Dickerson and Ricky Bird officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
