Bobbie Ivey, 77, of Dawsonville, died May 11, 2016.

Born July 7, 1938 in Lumpkin County to the late George and Ruby Abercrombie, she lived in Dawson County for the past 45 years, having moved from Hall County.

A homemaker at her death, along with her husband they owned and operated a farm.

During her life, Bobbie was a foster mother to 84 children.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Her sisters, Brenda Sears, Annie Meredith, and brothers, David Abercrombie and Ricky Abercrombie, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William "Jim" Ivey of Dawsonville; children, Rhonda and Dawson Whitmire, Randy and Wanda Edwards, all of Dawsonville, Tracey Turner of Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Charles Gardner of Dawsonville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 14 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Lemley officiating. Interment followed in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
