Billy F. Hardy, 70, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 8, 2011.

Born Oct. 30, 1940, in Jackson County to the late Ralph and Willie Mae Hardy, he had lived in Dawson County for more than 30 years, having moved from Commerce.

Mr. Hardy was employed by the Forsyth County government for 16 years and after his retirement he worked for Walmart.

He was a member of the Murrayville Holiness Church.

His granddaughter, Siera Hardy and a son-in-law, William Swofford, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gladys Hardy of Dawsonville; children, Keith Hardy, Troy Hardy, Stacy Swofford, Jacob Hardy, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Boyd Turner of Athens, Mary Jane and Bill Drake of Danielsville; brothers and sister-in-law, R.T. and Beverly Hardy of Comer, Aaron Hardy of Commerce; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kathy Loggins, Bob Garrett and Ricky Jones officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
