Betty Sue Darnell Mayerchak gently passed away on Sept. 10, 2019. She was born on August 6, 1937, in Dawsonville to Grace and Howard Darnell. She graduated from Chama High School in Chama, New Mexico and attended college at Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She retired in Aledo, Texas where she lived the past 24 years of her life. Betty was emotionally strong and lacking self-pity as she fought a five-year battle with lung cancer. She loved her family unconditionally and was considered their protector, always worrying about them rather than herself.

She was an incredible mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was always a friend and never forgot the people for whom she had immense love. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Grace and Howard Darnell of Fort Worth, Texas. She was survived by her loving children Joseph, Donna, and Cathy, and by her amazing grandson Tyler.

We were blessed by Betty’s love and courageous presence in our lives. She was the oldest of six children, including her brother Paul and her sisters Dianne, Linda, and Debbie. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, David. Betty was deeply loved, and her memory will live on.

The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregiver Ceci for her compassion, patience and love.
