Betty Schneider Colbert, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, Penn., died July 9, 2008 at her home on Lake Lanier in Dawsonville.
She was born in Scranton, Penn., April 5, 1924. Betty and the late Richard P. Colbert were married for 42 years.
A graduate of Frankford High School in Philadelphia, she graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing and ended her 40 year health care career as Director of Nursing at Warminster General Hospital in Penn., in 1985.
Upon retiring and moving to Georgia she became active in church activities and the local chapters of AARP, the Chamber of Commerce, Ric Rack, the Woman’s Club and the Grandmother’s Club. Betty also did volunteer work for The American Red Cross and the Dawsonville Senior’s Center. She was a dedicated mother and a wonderful friend, who loved to sing and bake bread and cakes for her family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Maria Chepigan of Collingswood, N.J.; sons, Richard S. Colbert and Julie of Paris, France, Craig B. Colbert and Barbara of Huntingtondon Valley, Penn.; daughters, Beth V. Greenberg and Allen of Dawsonville, Tracey Osborne and Kevin of Jasper; grandchildren, Jill Daley and Brian of Acworth, Josef Fischer and Jamie of Atlanta, Kelly Neill of Hatboro, Penn., Kristin Krause and John of Hatboro, Penn.; three great-grandchildren; dogs, Stanley and George; various other relatives also survive.
Memorial services were Saturday, July 12 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of honor and sympathy were requested to be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 11925 Century Blvd., NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA.
McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
