Betty Jean Styles, 83, of Dawsonville, died April 1, 2015.

Born April 23, 1931 to the late Erastus and Lucile Styles, Ms. Styles had been a resident of Dawson County all of her life.

A member of Bethel United Methodist Church, she retired from the Dawson County School System, where she spent her entire career as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent.

Survivors include her sister, Anne Styles of Kennesaw; brother, Steve Styles of Dawsonville; stepsisters, Betty Christie Humphries, Annie Christie Kent, Eva Christie Nix, Linda Christie Leslie, all of Cleveland; stepbrother, James Christie of Florida; special friend, Robert Hardin of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. April 4 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Phil DeMore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations to benefit Dawson County Schools be made to the Betty Jean Styles Memorial Fund at Community & Southern Bank, 4300 Dawson Forest Rd., Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
