The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Dawson County that will be in effect from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 6 until noon on Sunday, Feb. 7.

In an alert issued on Saturday morning, officials said that snow accumulations of one to two inches are possible, with higher amounts possible at elevations of 1500 feet and above. Lower elevations may get up to an inch of snow.

Affected areas under the winter weather advisory include Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens. Drivers are warned to be careful when going out while the advisory is in effect.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the advisory said. “Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
