The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that lane closures and traffic shifts are scheduled to begin at the intersection of Hwy. 52 and Dawsonville Highway in Lumpkin County later this week.
According to a GDOT press release, the lane closures and traffic shift will be installed, weather permitting, on Thursday, April 29. The changes will be in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Tuesday, May 11.
The release said that these changes will allow work to continue on a roundabout project at the intersection. The project is expected to be completed in April 2022.
No detour will be in effect for these changes, and the release states that motorists should expect delays while traveling through the area.
“Exact dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert and watch for workers,” the release said. “Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org or downloading the Georgia 511 app.”
