A severe thunderstorm warning has been extended for areas including Dawson County Wednesday afternoon, according to an updated alert from the National Weather Service.
The warning is set to last until 3:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm was located moving east near the War Hill area at 50 mph and could bring 60 mph wind gust and quarter-sized hail to the area, the NWS warning stated.
People can expect hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees, the NWS alert stated.
A wind advisory advisory also remains in effect through midnight on Thursday, Feb. 29. Sustained winds could reach 35-40 mph, according to the advisory.
