On Tuesday Oct. 11, the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce held an official ribbon cutting for Georgia Highlands Medical Services, located at 5959 Highway 53 Suite 100.

According to Georgia Highlands CEO Todd Shifflet, the Dawsonville location of the medical practice opened in its current building in 2017, and most recently the practice has expanded its pediatric clinic in Dawson.

Georgia Highlands is a non-profit medical service that has served the North Georgia community since 1979, and its mission is to bring the highest quality medical care possible to everyone in the service area, regardless of income, insurance status or language spoken.

“Our core mission is to provide care to the uninsured; we also see everybody insured as well,” Shifflet said. “We are very happy and grateful for the support Dawson County has given us; we know we couldn’t succeed if we didn’t have your support and if I didn’t have staff like these.”

Before cutting the ribbon, Mandy Power, President and CEO of the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce, commended Shifflet and his staff at the practice for their mission and for their hard work to serve the community.

“We are so excited to have medical services from Georgia Highlands here in our community; it makes me very excited for the additional resources you have for Dawson County residents,” Power said. “Dawsonville would be nothing without our medical industry.”

The Dawsonville location of Georgia Highlands Medical Services is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information about the practice, call 706-381-6125 or go to
