City council to consider funding Dawsonville patrol deputies
City hall

The Dawsonville City Council is scheduled to consider a proposal this week that would fund two Dawson County Sheriff’s Office deputy positions to provide patrol coverage in the city of Dawsonville.

According to an agenda for the council’s meeting on Monday, April 19, 2021, the proposal would fund the two positions for two months, in May and June, and would provide 12-hour patrol coverage in the city 7-days a week. The proposal would not affect the sheriff’s office’s current zone coverage, the agenda item states.

The proposal would require $22,407 from the city’s general fund reserves and would need an intergovernmental agreement with the Dawson County government.
