The Dawson County Board of Commissioners held the first in a series of budget hearings this morning. Hearings will continue Aug. 24-25 starting at 9 a.m. in the second-floor assembly room of the Dawson County Government Center, located at 25 Justice Way in Dawsonville.

People can attend the hearings in person or view them online through the “Dawson County Government” Facebook page.

A posted schedule shows presentation times for each county department.

Some of today’s speakers included department heads from Parks and Recreation and IT.

Among the county’s different departments, officials from the elections, superior court, fire and EMS/EMA departments are expected to present budget requests on Wednesday. Some of the departments scheduled to present Thursday include the library, planning and public works departments as well as the district attorney’s and sheriff’s offices.

The BOC is expected to hold budget hearings on the county’s FY2023 budget as a whole starting in September.
