Dawsonville City Councilman, Post 4, Mark French.

In the Nov. 2, 2021 Dawsonville city election, incumbent Mark French won the city council Post 4 seat over competitor Jamie McCracken.

French won the seat by 25 votes, beating McCracken 185 to 160.

Following the results of the election, French said he appreciated the support of those who voted for him as well as the civil and polite campaign run by his competitor.

“I would start off thanking the good Lord above for the victory, and I’d like to thank my supporters who have been exceedingly diligent,” French said. “I’d also like to thank Jamie McCracken too for running such a gentlemanly campaign; sometimes politics can get really ugly and we were just both able to do our campaign as gentlemen and I appreciate that.”

French works as an office manager for a local manufacturing company and has lived in Dawsonville for 12 years. He has served on the city council since he was elected into the role in 2017. He said he is excited to continue serving on the city council for his next term.

“I’m humbled to continue to be able to serve the citizens of Dawsonville and I look forward to the next four years of being up there and being their voice,” French said. “I’m just looking forward to having this behind us and moving on to our next big challenge.”
