This year’s theme was “There is Power in our Differences” and was aimed at recognizing students with disabilities and their gifts and talents.

The school system kicked off the week on Monday March 6 with a bowling and arcade event at Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center in Cumming. Throughout the week, each school in the district held fun events for their students, including a concert by local band Okay Kenedi at Dawson County High School for students from the high school, junior high and middle school.

The week also featured an art and writing contest, where exceptional education students from across the district had the chance to design a submission focused on the year’s theme and presented as a piece of artwork, 3D creation or written work. All of the pieces of submitted artwork will be on display at the Dawson County Public Library, and winning pieces will be chosen after spring break. The winning pieces will then be moved to be on display at Dawsonville City Hall.
