On Saturday, June 5, the Dawson County Fire Department will host an open house complete with food, games, music and a dunk tank fundraiser.
Fire officials say that the event will be open to anyone in the community and is part of grill safety month. Fire and EMS personnel will be grilling hotdogs and hamburgers on-site and demonstrating the proper way to grill safely.
Fire personnel will also be available to answer questions about how to receive smoke detectors and weather radios from the fire department, and Frozen Frenzee will be on site with shaved ice.
In addition to grilling safety tips, the event will also include the “Dunk a Fire Chief” fundraiser, where several of Dawson County fire chiefs will get in a dunk tank to raise money for fire safety education. Throws at the dunk tank will be $1 each or 5 throws for $3, and all money raised will go back into the community as fire education materials.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Dawson County Fire Station 2, 145 Liberty Drive in Dawsonville.
