On Tuesday Feb. 8, students from the Dawson County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) group placed first in the Area 1 North Region AG Mechanics contest.

In addition to the group placing first in the event, FFA member CJ Hudson scored the highest individual score in welding, Bryce Beach scored as the second highest individual overall and Freddie Jenkins scored as the fifth highest individual overall.

“The boys worked hard preparing for the event and excelled in all five areas of the contest,” FFA Advisor Keith Pankey said.

The team will go on to compete at the state event on March 19 at the State FFA Camp in Covington, Georgia.
