This past weekend, several students from the Dawson County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) group competed in state-level competitions at the state FFA camp in Covington, Georgia.
According to DCHS FFA Advisor Keith Pankey, two teams from Dawson County competed in the Agricultural (AG) Mechanics event and the Dairy Cattle Evaluation event on March 18 and March 19.
The DCHS AG Mechanics team placed eighth overall out of a total of 12 teams competing in the extremely difficult event.
“AG Mechanics is considered one of, if not the hardest event the FFA competes in,” Pankey said.
The DCHS Dairy Cattle Evaluation team placed 18th overall out of 30 total teams competing in their event.
“Both teams competed their hearts out at two very difficult events,” Pankey said.
