Dawson County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 19, to allow for safer navigation of the roadways for those trying to get to school in the wake of the weekend's winter weather, according to a release by the school system.

"This should provide adequate daylight to navigate our roadways safely for the majority of our community," the release said.

The release added that it should be up to each parent in the system whether or not they bring their children to school, in case the roadways where they live are still unsafe to navigate.

"Parents are encouraged to make decisions that are in the best interest of their children," the release said. "If roads in your area are unsafe please stay at home and communicate with your child's teacher."
